What is Aqueous Coating and UV Coating?

Aqueous Coating: Aqueous is a semi-gloss, water-based coating that is applied over the ink on the press to enhance shine and protect the surface. It adds a slight sheen to the product that is a perfect all-use coating. Aqueous gives your job a gloss finish but it is not a high gloss. It can be written on with most ball point pens.

UV Coating: UV coating is a slick, glossy coating applied to the printed paper surface and dried on press with ultraviolet (UV) light. It is applied after the printing has been completed in a separate coating machine and usually adds 2-3 days to the production process. You cannot write on UV coating, not even with a Sharpie™ Marker.

UV1 Coating: UV1 means that we coat the front of printing with high gloss UV coating and leave the other side only Aqueous. This way the advertising piece gets the high gloss of UV, but can be written or addressed on the backside. UV coatingusually adds 2-3 days to the production process.
